Drawing October: Spanish Mythology

Some of the drawing I made during this October, using one of the many promp lists that usually are proposed by this time of the year. My choice was a list featuring creatures from the Spanish folklore, and my medium was ink (Pigma Micron pens) on 300gr textured watercolor paper.

BASAJAUN
A creature from Basque mythology. It's a forest guardian spirit, who helps shepherds. In exchange, he usually receives some bread as a gift. Althought he looks like a strong, hairy and wild giant, he is gentle and kind.

LA PESANTA
You can find it in the old legends from Catalonia. A big, black dog who loves to get on top of the people who are sleeping, to cause them nightmares and suffocation.

CUELEBRE
A beast from the old Asturian legends. A vile beast in the form of a winged snake. Like most of the dragons, it is the guardian of amazing treasures, and lives terrifying entire villages, until someone brave enough fights the and defeat him.

ANJANA
Anjana is a beautiful creature from the Cantabrian mythology. It could be related to fairies and nymphs, living in the woods, with the abilities of speaking to the water that sprouts of natural fountains, healing animals and making trees grow.

OMES GRANIZOS
A spirit, a mountain giant and a mountain itself. This creature is all these three things. In Aragonese folklore, every mountain have a spirit, the Ome Granizo, who have the ability to take the form of a rock giant.

LOBIS MULLER
As her name suggests (Lobis= wolf, Muller= Woman, in galician) is a wolf-woman from Galicia. Usually decribed as a kind of with with the ability to transform herself into a wolf. A true force of nature, both in human and animal form.

ENTIZNAU
in Extremaduran folklore we can find the Entiznau, a tall humanoid creature. Always dressed in black, with a high hat and a drum, he have a strong temper, causing storms stirring the clouds with his hat and thunders with the beating of his drum.

A demon from Valencia. He have two faces, four arms, four legs and the ability to sneak through any key hole. He uses this strange ability to enter the bedroom of any misbehaving kid.

A wild strong woman from from the Extremadura folklore. A skilled and dangerous huntress who likes to harass men.

This ugly and dangerous witch from the Galician mythology have a taste for the blood of the youngest ones. A perfect example of an evil witch.

AKERBELTZ
My favourite! Maybe any of your will recognize the Black Goat, originally an ancient nature spirit, famous for beign demonized by the Inquisition for it's appereances in aquelarres or witches Sabbath.
